Mrs. Lauren Young grew up in New York, moving to Delaware to attend the University of Delaware. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education. While at the University of Delaware, Mrs. Young met her husband, Brian, and Delaware became her permanent home.

Young began her teaching career in the Christina School District in the fall of 1996. After two years in Christina, Mrs. Young started teaching at Forest Oak Elementary School in the Red Clay Consolidated School District, where she remained for 14 years. Teaching Special Education and Third Grade, Mrs. Young received her Master’s in School Leadership from Wilmington University in 2001 and earned the title of Teacher of the Year in 2009.

Mrs. Young spends her free time with her husband Brian, her two children; Ben and Kylie, and their silver lab, Storm. Kylie graduated from Odessa High School under the allied health pathway and is attending Towson University. Ben attends Odessa Middle School and displays a passion for football. She thanks her family for their support as she has built her career in education.

After serving in many leadership positions, Mrs. Young made the change from teacher to administrator in 2012. She has served Mote Elementary since 2015. She started a PBS program at Mote and supported the teachers with implementing SIOP and Second Step to support Mote’s learners. Mrs. Lauren Young was excited to begin the new position Mote Elementary Principal with familiar staff and families in the 2021 school year. She is committed to the school’s vision and mission to meet the needs of the students, staff, and community as we seek high achievement for all learners.

Dr. Kirsten Belair was born and raised in Delaware.  After graduating from Padua Academy, she earned a Track and Field scholarship to Seton Hall University. Belair graduated from Seton Hall with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a minor in Business. She also earned a Master of Elementary Education Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.
 
Dr. Belair started her career in education over 17 years ago.  It began in the Pennsville (NJ) School District. She was a 2nd and 4th grade teacher at Valley Park Elementary School.  Dr. Belair continued her career at Odyssey Charter School, where she was an Elementary School Teacher, Reading Specialist, Instructional Coach, and a Student and Staff Development Specialist. In 2018, Belair joined the Red Clay Consolidated School District as a 7th grade ELA teacher at H.B. du Pont Middle School.  She was also an administrative intern and a member of the Red Clay Aspiring Leadership Academy.  Dr. Belair became Mote’s Assistant Principal in October of 2021.
 
Belair enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark and her two sons, Jacob and Jonathan. Jacob is attending the University of Delaware and Jonathan is a student at Sanford. Dr. Belair also loves the beach, running, and going to the gym.  She is excited to work with Mote’s faculty and families to help all students reach their full potential by providing a safe learning environment and strong instruction.

La Sra. Lauren Young creció en Nueva York y se mudó a Delaware para asistir a la Universidad de Delaware, donde se graduó con una Licenciatura en Educación Primaria y Especial. Mientras asistía a la Universidad de Delaware, conoció a su esposo, Brian, e hizo de Delaware su hogar permanente.

Young comenzó su carrera docente en el Distrito Escolar Christina en el otoño de 1996. Después de dos años de trabajar en Christina, la Sra. Young comenzó a enseñar en la Escuela Primaria Forest Oak del Distrito Escolar Consolidado Red Clay, donde permaneció durante 14 años. Mientras se desempeñaba como maestra de Educación Especial y Tercer Grado, la Sra. Young obtuvo una Maestría en Liderazgo Escolar de la Universidad Wilmington en 2001 y recibió el título de Maestra del Año en 2009.

La Sra. Young pasa su tiempo libre con su esposo Brian y sus dos hijos, Ben y Kylie, y su labrador plateado, Storm. Kylie está por comenzar su segundo año de secundaria en la Escuela Secundaria Odessa, donde sigue la orientación de salud. Ben está por iniciar su último año en la Escuela Primaria Old State y tiene una pasión por el fútbol americano. La Sra. Young agradece a su familia por el apoyo que le brindaron mientras ella desarrollaba su carrera en el campo de la educación.

Después de ocupar varios cargos de liderazgo, la Sra. Young hizo el cambio de maestra a directiva en 2012. Ella ha trabajado los últimos seis años en la Escuela Primaria Mote. Instauró un programa PBS (Programa para fomentar conducta positiva) en Mote y brindó apoyo a los maestros para implementar el modelo pedagógico SIOP (Protocolo de Observación de la Instrucción Protegida) y el programa Second Step para apoyar a los estudiantes de Mote. La Sra. Lauren Young está entusiasmada por comenzar este nuevo cargo de Directora Interina de la Escuela Primaria Mote junto al personal y familias que ya le son conocidos. Ella está comprometida con la visión y misión de la escuela para atender las necesidades de los estudiantes, personal y comunidad mientras buscamos que todos los estudiantes logren un alto rendimiento.

A la Dra. Belair le encanta pasar tiempo con su esposo, Mark, y sus dos hijos, Jacob y Jonathan. Jacob asiste a la Universidad de Delaware y Jonathan es estudiante en Sanford. También disfruta de la playa, correr y asistir al gimnasio. Está emocionada de trabajar con el profesorado y las familias de Mote para ayudar a que todos los estudiantes alcancen su máximo potencial, brindando un entorno de aprendizaje seguro y una enseñanza de calidad.
